Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

This was an idea that was thrown out by the Boy Wonder (Ron Hobbs Jr)

Maybe we could have a BBQ and an auction the night before the tourney and some of the hotshots here donate an opportunity to fish with them for a celebrity auction? The proceeds could go to this site.

I think names like Ron Hobbs, Marc Marcantonio, Tag Watson, Jeff Abbott, Mike Matkowski, Mike Wolsky (he isn't a member but he is a superstar), and Mike Bess would get some people willing to pay for an opportunity to fish with them.

Everyone else could just enter with the partner of their choice.

Who likes this idea?

Nothing hurt here. Thought you wanted to keep your Union spots to yourself maybe.

Sorry if you got your feelings hurt.

Interesting Eric, I hollered at you on your page over a month ago about fishing together and never heard a peep.

It was pretty late when I posted this topic so sorry that I didn't put your name on the list Chad. I would include you on the list of elite anglers that are members here.

There are a lot of other guys on WaFish who are either really good or think they are really good so maybe the auction should be open to anyone who wants to do it?

I would volunteer but the deafening silence when my turn came up would pretty embarrassing. I mean, what if I got stuck fishing with Cody and raised one dollar for the site? How bad would that be?

How about bidding on the opportunity to fish with a seahawks cheerleader or something like that instead? Kinda like how the seahawks charity tournament works. If you can pull that off Eric, I will be down there ready to max out my credit cards. If I come to the scales with no fish everyone would understand, right?
Noone? Or is that "no one"?

Am I the only one that found that funny? Eddie Haskel is back and he is upset that noone will take him serious.

Seriously though, I thought it sounded like a fun idea.
The silent auction part is a good idea too.

I have fished with Ron Hobbs a few times and Mike Wolsky once and obviously Besty a bunch of times and I guarantee that ANYONE here would learn a bunch from any one of the guys I listed.

Can we get some serious replies to this idea you clowns?
Ben I'll tell you I fished a day with Eric and his 300hp on Potholes this July just after the NW tourney, and it was a lot of fun! A bit scary at parts but that boat is SWEET. Mostly the parts when we were going 50mph through the dunes I was holding on. I was trying to navigate him to some spots back behind big dune and we were going so fast my landmarks were flying by so fast I couldn't keep up. Eric is a great driver though, very safe and I respect him for not babying his boat and driving timid even on a body of water like Potholes that he has little experience on. We also caught fish that day, not a ton, but a few good ones.

As for this topic I'd love to fish with Ron, Marc, Mike, Tag, Jordan... but unlike most of you I am a poor college student who has yet to get a pay check large enough to make a boat payment and afford car insurance in the same month... It's a great idea though Eric! I'll start saving my change and allowance ;)

Shoot Delay has a pretty pimp ride from what it sounds like. I don't know if I would be a huge fan of ridding in a Triton with a 300hp, but a pretty big step up from what I drive. I bid $10.
That sounds great Ron! I am not broke, but I think your idea levels the field for everyone to have an opportunity to fish with the likes of yourself and others who we look up to. Now what does the final say think about this? Lets hear it Eric.

PJ how does it sound to sell raffle tickets a buck a piece and have a few guys volunteer to be the prizes. Have raffle tickets with buckets with different guys names on it put your tickets in the anglers bucket you want to fish with, then it is not a battle over bucks but rather luck of the draw, everyone who wants one gets a free ticket. After that there could be a draw for everyone else that needs a partner. I think it would benefit members if it was a draw tourney over a team format, also if it was co anglers versus co anglers and captains versus captains. This way guys would learn alot more, the only problem would be having the same number of boaters versus non boaters.

Ron, good call, I was just going to suggest this type of format. Everyone will have the opportuinty to to spend what thier budget allows comfortably, and still have a real chance at the opportunity to fish with a "local legend".

Those are some great ideas guys.

$20 to fish with DeLay. Have gas in the boat this time Eric haha.
Great idea. Much better than DeLay's idea. A draw tourny for those who want to fish with a star and if anyone wants to show up as a team, thats fine too.

Yes, schedule permitting I would volunteer to be a part of it.

ciao,

The auction idea was Ron's idea too you dumb ass.

I like the raffle idea. This would provide everyone an opportunity to fish with a hotshot. The problem we have though is matching up the numbers. If we have 10 guys volunteer and there are 15 guys buying into the raffle what happens to the other guys?

Maybe by having the BBQ and raffle the night before that would give the guys who don't get drawn an opportunity to make other arrangements. I assume that some of the guys bidding will be boat owners and tournament fishermen so they could still fish.
Having a few more open boats would be a good idea too. Brian Walters and I have already discussed making ourselves available for this.

I would like to see it as a combined weight for each team. I think this gives the boater more incentive to help the non-boater catch fish.

The more we talk about this thing the more pumped up I get. We need to get cracking on the details so some of the work can be delegated by Jordan. Maybe some of you guys who have been involved with organizing a tourney can weigh in or volunteer to get us started in the right direction?

I think we should start a separate roll call discussion to get a feel for what the turnout would be too? Knowing how many ticket buyers there might be would be super helpful.
