Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hi Everyone,

Borderline Bassin Contenders will be holding their annual Lake Whatcom Fall Open on Saturday, October 23rd.  Registration will be at 6:15 AM with a drivers meeting shortly after.  We will draw boat numbers once everyone has been registered and blast off at safe light.  Weigh in will be at 3 PM.  Entry fee is $100 per team and $20 big fish option.  If you wish, you can email me your completed entry forms at dparnicky@gmail.com.  It is perfectly acceptable and preferred however to hand in registration forms on tournament morning. I have attached a copy of the registration form as well as tournament rules to this post.  Feel free to contact me on here if you have any questions or concerns.  I hope to see you there!  It should be a fun day on a great lake!

**Note**  I have tested our club's scale on weights and it is ACCURATE.  In order to speed up the weigh in process, each team is entitled to only ONE re-weigh.  If you ask for a re-weigh, I encourage that you deem it necessary as you will be forced to take the second weight regardless of whether it is higher or lower than your original weight.  This is the only way to keep things moving along and orderly at weigh in.  I don't want to hear any whining! :)

And on another note, I do not agree with the stance or feel that it is right that Borderline lets anyone run the lake that wants to (whether they think they are just going to run their trolling motor or not). I think there is some responsibility to the club/organization that runs an event to make sure that those who participate abide by all laws (not just ones they want to), as well as the responsibility to all of us as tournament anglers, to respect each other and our communities by following all laws. They are there for a reason, whether we like it or not and just because we don’t agree with them does not give us the right to ignore them, even more so during a organized event where there is a lot more attention drawn towards us all than normal. I would like to see something change…

Game plan, hmmm. I stuck with one and it didn't work out to well, good thing we trashed it and went fishing even though it was a little late and 4 pounds less than required!
Every tournament I fished this year was a good learning experience, frustrating, but added to the memory bank for future use. Thank you David for putting up with the verbal abuse before the tournament, it was all in fun and I fully expect some in return.
Great job with the tourny and I will see you in the spring.
Hey Barack,

David said no whining....jk...couldn't resist.

As expected, the chuck and wind was the ticket for us. And unfortunately we did break out the fairy wand for a couple of our fish too. In all seriousness though, I feel pretty lucky to be able to beat some of the local guys up there, especially with our limited experience on the lake. Like everyone else we did pretty well in prefish, but come tournament day it was tough and once we were able to see (since Parnicky blasted us off in the dark), we were able to adapt to the conditions and get on them pretty good. I'd guess that we caught 20 or so keepers between Tony and I, but like Dave said, good size was hard to come by, even with bigger 5" to 6" baits.

Looking forward to doing it again. I'm very surprised that more boats don't come for this tournament.
