Shaw Grigsby sore lipped em all last week.  Weights will be down because of it.  21lbs takes it.  The next biggest weight will be 17.8lbs in a landslide.

I think the winning bag will be 23.76.  I think the weather last week set up for another good push of prespawn fish to pull up and get on bed.  I do think the super high pool is going to make it harder to find the big spawners, but there are guys that will!  Good luck guys!

Looks like Ron and Mike won another one with 19.56lbs. I cant believe how many proven Potholes sticks got skunked. Then again I wasn't there, and if I was, I would have blanked also.

Evidently lowering the lake by a foot or more during the week and gale force winds the day before put a damper on catching fish. That may have been one of the longest days of my life.

Wow is all I have to say. We saw the fish to compete but only were able to connect with fish that we all around 12 inches! Who would have thought that 12.8lbs would get you a check? Definitely the toughest potholes NWB tournament i've ever seen , has anyone else seen it so tough out there and the weights so low?

Jon and I threw back 16lbs thinking it wasnt enough for a check....

Honestly, it was the toughest tournament I have ever fished and fishing with Jon made it a living hell.  Dana is correct- I stayed and fished Sunday at an attempt for redemption. This will come as a shock to everyone, but I didn't touch, see or hook a single fish.

I'm not shocked at all.

Flabbergasted?

It was very tough as stated above. I caught a 3.5 on a bed that took an hour. We also caught two males.

We saw a lot of fry but no fish with them, not normal.

We dumped them and went home. That lake changes faster than the reach!

Good job to the guys that whacked them.

Bill

We also went out Sunday and basically just worked on a suntan or sunburn...whatever you want to call it. we had a few bites but couldn't stick em.  In my opinion, this lake has been stingy all year, except for the divisionals with the early 90 degree weather (which I didn't fish). What was explained to me was this...the hot weather started the willow growth then the following week of cold temps quickly killed them off and kind of ruined the water. Some areas of the lake that are normally clear were murky. Lake just has been a little different this year. The fish were in very specific spots from what we saw. We just didn't get any big fish bites.

It was very tough for me as well.  I only had 4 small green for around 8lbs, but like Jordan, I saw the fish to compete too.  Very frustrating working good fish that long with no results.  Great job to everyone who figured it out.  Hats off to you!

Sounds like everyone had as rough a day as Les and I did.  We had the fish on to win the darn thing.  I lost a couple and broke one off.  We saw a few other 3 + lbers guarding fry that would nose down on and chase but not eat a bait.  Blue bird skies and the pressure changes were not our friend.  Hindset is always 20/20, but if we would have had a brain, we would have gone and looked for a few brown fish.  One 2 lb fish would have gotten us in the money.  I can't force myself to fish for smallmouth on that lake.

thankfully, we caught a big one that luckily was big fish for our flight.

That Lake is intriguing and still a lake I love to fish.  Those fish are sensitive though.

Congrats to Mike and Ron and Dan and Taylor on their success

See ya on the River

Jeff
