I also think the emaciated gentleman holding the fish in the upper left corner makes that fish look bigger than it actually is.

I believe you.  Who gives a crap about what it looks like.  I've got a photo up of me that looks like about 7-8lbs that's only 6.5 by my scale.  It goes the other direction too.  I think what matters is that we take a persons word over the quality of thier camera, or the ability of thier buddy to take a good photo.

Ok lets look at it this way...The 5lb smallie he is holding looks bigger than the 7lb largemouth in that picture in comparison to his hand. unless his right hand is bigger than his left.
