Who are we?

What do you get when you combine a die hard passion for fishing, a fully sponsored tournament series, and a bunch of wide eyed college kids?
THE WSU BASS CLUB
Founded early in 2009, the WSU bass club competes in the FLW College Series Western Division, sponsored by National Guard and a smorgasbord of other sponsors, competing against other college teams all over the west coast. Teams compete not only for bragging rights, but for a shot at a $10,000 first place prize, and the chance to go to regionals and nationals for even more money and prizes.
Teamed with Northwest Wild Country radio on 950 KJR am, we do a blog series following our trail and ambitions of bass fishing, along with occasional on-air visits updating the team's status.

Its Thursday- just two more days until were on Lake Oroville for the 3rd tournament of the season, and already it’s the ONLY thing on my mind… The thought is tearing through my mind faster than a 250 horse Merc at take-off, and just imagining the feeling of a rod in my hand is enough to get my heart pumping. Looking at barely half the drive of our Lake Roosevelt t… Continue

Lake Roosevelt 2009

Thursday
2600 miles, 150 gallons of gas, and 8 hours of fishing to make it all worth it…this is the WSU bass team. We’ve got 30-something rods innovatively packed in a massive concrete forming tube, cradled between the seats of our 7-person rental van fittingly named “The Coug-Cruiser”. Needless to say… ITS ON. Our crew consists of Zack, Kipp, Huy, James, myself (Chris), and Sarah (to make sure she keeps the guys from getting out of hand), and one heck of a dad who has put in some serious… Continue

Would WSU's collegiate team be interested in a rod sponsorship opportunity? One of my sponsors is supporting Collegiate fishing teams in other parts of the country and I thought, as a former Coug and longtime NW fisherman, I would suggest consideration of WSU's team. if there is sincere interest, email me a PM at MMatkowski@verizon.net.
