Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

It's that time again to get ready for the Freeze your bASS blast, February 19, 2011 on Lake Sammamish. This is the 5th annual and we at Evergreen Bass club are looking forward to seeing all the regulars and a bunch of new faces this year. We had 38 boats last year and would like to see at least 40 this year.

We use these tournament proceeds to fund the take a Warrior fishing event we have held the last 2 years to help thank the enlisted men and women for all they do for all of us.

With a chance at $1000.00 for the biggest live Bass who wouldn't come out and have a good time?

We are planning on using the 3 fish limit again this year which has leveled the field out a little and made a limit more achievable for this time of year.

We are imposing an off limits period this year to give the fish some stability before the tournament.

The off limits period will start at 12:01 am Saturday February 12, 2011 and continue to be off limits until the tournament starts on Saturday February 19, 2011.

(Friday the 11th is the last day of prefish)

I know this will cause some grumbling but the fish will be much more apt to bite on tournament day.

We will have the rules and entry forms posted on our website later this week as well as a link here for the entry form for those that want to send it in sooner, the entry fee is still $125.00 plus $25.00 for big fish pot option if postmarked before February 8, 2011.

A $10.00 cash only late fee will be added on tournament day.

If anyone is interested in making donations to the raffle or towards the Warrior fishing event we would really appreciate the help.

I can be reached at 253-606-0518 or at Evergreenbassclub@comcast.net with any questions, Thanks again and hope to see you all out there.

Couldn't have asked for a better day in Febuary! Evergreen did a great job, it was a really fun day on the water. It would have been nice to have landed at least one of the three fish that got off though. Lots of bites early in the day.
At least you guys made it out there.......it sucks missing the first tourny of the year being sick! Especially after having a good pre-fish!

Willie and everyone in Evergreen did a fantastic job running this tournament!!  Plus with all the sponsors, free food, and awesome raffle, this tournament is always fun to fish no matter how the fishing goes!  I had a blast getting a chance to see people that I hadn't seen since last year.  Also, with the nice weather once the sun came up, you couldn't ask for a better day in February!  Since I had little Lake Sammamish experience, I spent one day a week for the last 4 weeks driving and fishing almost all of the lake.  I felt pretty good about things before the tournament started but couldn't buy a bite to save my life today!  0 fish and not even one recognizable bite!!  I felt like I fished good water all day and just couldn't make it happen.  I probably spent too long in the morning trying to sneak onto the edge of a spot I wanted to fish that another boat was already working but I guess these are the things you learn as you fish more.  I still had a blast fishing the tournament, seeing everyone and I will be there next year as well whether there are fish in my livewell or not!  Thanks Evergreen for putting on such a fun event at a time when not much else is going on locally!

Thats a bummer Chad I know the one day I made it out you did real good!  I have been constantly sick the last month. NOT FUN and am now fighting another cold.  Maybe next year for us and Panic Minnow

I want to thank everyone that came out and helped us set up, cook hot dogs, and in general have a great day. Thanks to Kevin Jones for bringing the coffee and doughnuts in the morning. I will get the results up as soon as I can. It was an interesting bite out there for sure.
All 3 of you sick at the same time? Weird.....

Chad,

We also missed the fishing because of that. I had a cold I was fighting, made the set-up and blastoff but that was it. Sumich was sick with the flu I guess.  I also had a great pre-fish and was psyched about fishing. Oh well, sounds like they all had a good time.

Thanks to Evergreen Bass Club for running a fun tournament!  I fished with Mike Wolsky, and really enjoyed the day.  This year I have been fishing more in California so far, making this my first day on Sammamish in 2011.  It was nice to get back into the deep smallmouth bite.  We culled up to 9.3 pounds for our limit, and ended up in fourth place with a check.

I remember fishing Sammamish and Lake Washington all winter long and having the lake to myself.  I often thought it would be great to hold a tournament in the middle of the winter, but never really thought we would get anyone to agree to hold one let alone have 33 boats compete.  I love it, and look forward to this tournament every year and hope it continues to grow.  Evergreen is to be commended for holding a tourney in the winter, with an excellent format, and for an awesome cause in support of Wounded Warrior's!

ciao,

Aside from culling up a few times; can you think of any other key point that contributed to you getting a check?

I wish i was going to be able to be there but instead i get to spend the weekend in a cabin with the family since there is not enough snow on the ground to ride some sleds.

The weather looks to be.....clear.   Bout 30 at 7 am and it is supposed to heat way up about mid day, 41 being the peak.  Put on a few layers and it should be a fun day.

Dez- get there on time, I know how you like to show up 3 seconds before take off

shut ur mouth ! lol

Making it there is what counts and tuff'n it in those kind of conditions is always plus not to mention we put a fish on scales , let me see you try that after getting home at 3am from rocking out the night before ...What were you doing mr lazyboy angler of year , enjoying sum pancakes again..lmao
