When do you guys start using the top waters?
Last year BBD got me hooked on tossing frogs. I guess I'm just looking
for an excuse to use them/poppers too. Just wondering if this is to early
to use on a regular basis.

What are you waiting for?
No, it is not too early!
This is a great time of year to start tossing wake baits like the 3:16 Wake Jr. and the MS Slammer. These baits tend to work best with some cloud cover and wind this time of year. Big females will come up and smash a properly presented wake bait. Frogs will work right now as well.
Kevin, Topwaters are my favorite! I dont have a topwater fish yet this year but last year I had a frog bass in the beginning of April. Poppers are one of my favorites too but if you have not tried a zara spook I highly recommed it, just take the dog for a walk. LOL
I mentioned this before, but the big fish at the Potholes Open this year was caught on a frog. Good question though Kevin. I have been wondering myself if it was too early and the one at the tourney was fluke catch. Thanks for the info guys, my topwater is coming out!!
I've been trying to Punk a Lunker for weeks !! :) Love them topwaters.
Never too early, never too late! Man I love topwaters.
It's worth a shot right now the weather is warming and you might not get tons of strikes, but when that Hog explodes on your frog it will be worth it!
Thanks for all the information, its very much appreciated. I have limited time
this weekend but hoping to get out for a couple hours at either Trout or Tanwax....anywhere
for bass. I'll check out the wake baits for sure.

Is their ever an ideal water temp for these situations?

Sorry for the endless questions...but this year I'm really trying to tune into bass fishing and
still balance my musky trips.
Thanks again
Kevin

haha, I love Kermit,he was good to me last year but I was a jerk to him...I missed plenty
of fish, not Kermit's fault. I was shocked to see calm water for awhile and then SLAM!
Then Kermit tried to rip my face off a few times.

Well I was on Terrell yesterday evening around 730-930. I was throwing a BUZZ BAIT and getting hammered. So to answer your question YES throw those frogs. Man I love top water action. Good luck.
When you say you were getting hammered are you referring to the fish eating the buzzbait or your own condition at the time?
