Want to hike back into the dunes next weekend to do some exploring, anyone know what the water is looking like back there, level and or temp?

Hiking might pose a problem.  The lake is high and they are still filling it to full pool.  Job Core area is your best bet on foot.  I would imagine they might be getting water temps in the 60 range back in the shallow protected areas of the dunes. Good luck

Have fun with the ticks!

Ticks make great perch bait!

Rattlesnakes! If it is sunny they will be out and about!

There are many a tick infested wild and wooly coyotes roaming back there too!

Ticks, there weren't many...there were tons! Brought my dog with us and he ended up with over 3-dozen on him. Costco flea and tick is garbage, back to Fronline...Anyways, we spent more time hiking around and getting the lay of the land. Didn't fish much, pulled some temps and they seemed right where we wanted them to be, in the upper 50s. Weather cut the day short, crazy front moved in around 1:30.

Moral of the story is that we won't be hiking back in there anytime soon (will only return during colder bird season), we will however float back there when we can. Thanks for the tips.
