Boat "Zoap"..seems to work pretty well. The best thing though, is wiping your boat (especially the nasty green waterline) off as soon as you get off the water with a shammy.
I use Bass BoatSaver. Seems to work well. Advertises UVB protectant in solution. Agree with Jason, wipe down right away or the crud will cook to your boat.
I use bassboatsaver also. I bought a gallon over 3 years ago and its only half gone. The stuff flat out works, and as most will say on other sites it makes your boat smell good too ;)
As for carpets, I would love to hear some techniques on getting matted carpet plush again. That seems to be the biggest issue I have.
I have only waxed my boat once in 4 years (I used Meguiars flagship liquid). If your boat is fairly new and you use BBS regularly, it will shine !
I just got some BTS and I'm going to try it. I have always used BBS until now.
this thread has DT's name written awe ova it.
When I got back from Potholes I had some water spots on my gelcoat that won't come off. I suspect that the water has a lot of minerals in it or something.

Does anyone know how to remove these spots?
Use 3M Fiberglass Cleaner and Wax. I got the bottle I have from Wal-Mart. Use it sparingly though, if you rub it in too hard you will notice the spot you cleaned is a brighter shade than the rest of your hull.
One big thing I learned is when you wash your boat use a hard nozzle or go to the car wash to spray your boat first. the Last thing you want to do is just mist your boat with a wax or hose and then wipe it with a towel cause you will just get a sand paper effect. Spray the dirt off hard the start with the detailing

I really like BassBoat Restore for a quick spray. Its very similar to BBS but you can buy it locally (tacoma).

For my carpets I use a wire or plastic bristle brush depending on the area and comb the carpet up before I vacuum. This will help loosen any dirt and let it come out easier.

Louie when is dean going to let me give his boat some much needed CPR? I dream about it every night!
I use bass boat saver and am real happy with it. It takes very little time and in my opinion helps prevent scratches on the bottom of your hull from your bunks.
when you power wash your carpet do you ever have a problem with it peeling away?
Eric,
I have the stuff to take hard water spots off. I have an extra bottle you can have. I forgot what it's called but it works great.
Two tips with things you have at home.
1. The best bug, tar, and bird droppings remover... WD40, I'll put it up against anything. Spray it on wait 30 seconds to a minute and wipe it off. Wash with warm soapy water afterward, then wax as needed. For all of you that have traveled past Lake Lenore in the spring with the bugs and the gajillions of birds .....you wished you knew this tip. Rig, boat, RV take your pick, I have used it on all of them and it works easier than anything on the market.
2. Bring your carpets back like new with a bucket of soapy hot water, like Dawn dish washing liquid, add a cup of white vinegar. Exceptional grease, dirt and general crud remover. Use a stiff bristle brush and scrub in sections, like compartment by compartment, then shop vac out. Rinse and re-vacuum. I know it sounds like one of those things the old timers tell you that when you try it, it doesn't work, but it worked great for carpet in my boat that was several years old when I got it, and who knows how long since it was washed, but was very matted, and bounce back to look very good.
