There were a few guy from this site over on Banks for the first one . B walters , S Hastings , D snodgras , Mark "hot pink shorts " , Tito , and few others .. Im excited about man . The LMB Bite should be good , And the smallies are full of steam and roamimg in numbers .. Im thinking lots of limits but its going to take atleast 18+ bag to make the top three .. I pre fished last sunday and was able to put a solid game plan down. Buzzbaits in 50ft of water , just keep casting and remember you only need five bites ...........lol Good Luck to all thats attending !!

It's guys like him that push potential support from non boaters away . If the freaking guy and all 80 years of bass fishing and knowledge was atleast catching fish maybe it wouldn't have been so bad . But thats just it , he sucks as an angler ! he fished from wednesday through sunday on that lake and boated a total of 1 dam fish . Walks around standing all of 5ft tall like he was some sort of bass fishing royalty or something . And for the record , im bashing this guy on here , no different then i did as i did standing right in front of him sunday . But i was told that he will not be returning next year , and im okay with that . Bad part about it , is that he cost me from possibly making the team . thats okay i still got FLW in september and i will use this as more motivation while casting in the firey gates of Hell ,aka The wash !!
Thanks for the support "tricky Ricky" !!

That actually makes total sense especially with a full field.

Eric, dumping your boat and letting it freefloat is often the standard practice in the South and Mid-West. When you fish tourneys all over you see stuff like this and it is considered normal and in good taste to clear the ramp quickly. They don't even ask for permission to board your boat; they just expect that you expect them to hop on the closest boat and hitch a ride to their drifting rig.

ciao,
Marc

You want to see something funny? Watch Crusty launch his boat at the tourney. He just dumps it in the water and lets it float off, goes and parks his van, then comes back and finds someone to go give him a ride out to get his boat.
Mike Wolsky told me about it then Jim Sumich told me he saw it too. I thought it was hilarious.

To clear one thing up, Jeremy P caught the tourny big fish, 6.4 something, Roy's fish was second at 6.1 something.

I had a blast at the tournament even though the fishing SUCKED. Prefish went great, had about 7 lbs on 4 casts and three spots, and shook off fish the rest of the day. I was excited to pound a big bag of smallies on Saturday, but the lake shut down hard.

I was completely confounded after day 1, lost the only fish that bit which was about a pound I'm guessing. Thinking about it now, we probably should have ended up dragging some of the rockier shorelines to pick up a dinky fish or two, but that is a hard choice to make. Fished hard all day hoping we would stumble upon a concentration of active fish to get limits, but no luck.

Day 2, was better, but not much, I had 4 bites and capitalized on them all, but still couldn't really put together a pattern. With another 20 mins of fishing I could have filled a limit, but a twelve incher wouldn't have helped me too much anyways.

Most importantly though, I had a great time fishing with my boaters, Brian Walters and Aaron Echternkamp (spelling?), learned a ton, and made some great friends. That's what these events offer win or lose and it is an awesome opportunity.
Thanks guys for the Atta boys guys. I was in 31st place overall and maybe the 13th non-boater and needed a homerun this weekend, and was fortunate enough to get two. Mark I was actually the second place non-boater overall, Mike Whitlow was first and was 12th overall, so he would have made it regardless of the format. But thankfully I am headed to AZ next spring. Gotta say thanks to Les Whitley for getting us both on fish and an absolute blast to hang out with. Best thing about fishing qualifiers is the people you meet, and the friends you make. Les your welcome in P-town anytime. Now regarding Ricky Hamilton, I fished with him Sunday and had a great time. That said, It's clear he can be as abrasive as 80 grit sand paper, which I am sure rubs a lot of folks wrong. He has spent his life working as a Principal, teacher, football coach and wrestling coach, which might explain some of the behavior. I believe there are two sides to every story and not everyone is adept at recognizing that we are all a little different and how to adapt, very often ego's, passion and competition raise the intolerance levels. According to Ricky he fished tournaments successfully here in the mid eighties, (Ron your Dad may remember him?" and has lived in the south the last 20+ years. I've seen some of the behavoir talked about here, Including the boat discussion. I make no excuses for him, we all reap what we sow. I am quite certain he is not the monster or bad guy portrayed, but he has social weaknesses’, that I am pretty sure he is at least somewhat aware of. Just so you know when I met him Sunday morning, I walked up and introduced myself, said "whats the plan for the day," and he responded with, "Well I hear you have a chance to make the team and I'm outta this thing so were fishing for you, what ever you want to do" I responded with Ah Hell Yaa!!...... I think this is a good example of what he is capable of. BW in fairness, on Sunday we were to Weber point before you and it was my spot...aka. a community hole. Tell me if I do not speak the truth.

Steve , man i hear where your coming from and i admire the voice of reason ! im simular myself in regards to conflict resolution matters as such . I personaly will not publicly bash on anyone , fishing or not unless iv expressed my concerns to that person first ..As a student of bass fishing , we develope over time a well skilled trait of what i call "paying attention to detail" right . Based off of "repeat "behavior , we can than detect a what is known as a pattern right . Okay so if you new that this guy has a long history of showing disrepectful actions toward "MANY" of anglers over a course of "YEARS" , not just this past wkend . This is why i feel confident in saying that "tricky ricky" has a problem . Steve , at the boaters meeting he wasn't present . so once i found out that i drew him as a boater , keep in mind that i didnt know a dam thing about who he was , where he came from , notta !! I walked around and personaly talked to 4-5 different anglers as to what kind of angler i drew . Not one person had anything nice to say about this guy . As a matter of fact , there concerns were that and ill quote "If that guy cuts in on my spots , that im already sitting on again like he did all week during pre fishing , we are gonna have problems" . thats a fact ! secondly , while i was on the boat with him , he wanted to re visit a well known comm. hole , my response to him was , ricky there is a chance someone is sitting on it , but we can see . His response was "I DONT GIVE A $HIT IF THERE IS A BOAT THERE IF I WANNA FISH IT " . that is a fact! . Steve , this guy "YELLED" at me on the boat , just for telling him how to properly fish an area that he hadn't been to before . thats a fact ! He had two complaints from his non boaters over on banks , thats a fact! This all happen just this past week .. Steve , this same guy was kicked out of his old bassclub , by his own club members for his ways of disrespect toward others ! thats a fact ! This guy made poor david , feel bad for the kind of rig that he fish out of and david is a super nice guy ! what place does he have to do this ? What i saying to you that i later found out is that he has a very very very long past of being a "complete asshole toward other anglers " thats a fact...now if you fairly access this guys "overall" demeanor and "proven" behavior actions in relation to other anglers ! Steve what you have a my friend is "A PATTERN " ! That guy made it known that he gave up at about 1pm saturday and was willing to go home if a non boater was also willing . Be thankful that he carried that same state of mind into sunday and allowed you to continue on your producing pattern because had you drew him on saturday , trust me steve your day would not have been the same !

Now im still open minded in the sence that with proper medication , and a few classes on public relations , this guy might have a shot . Outside of that its going to take more than a voice of reason to make me and allot others to change our minds ...

Steve you know we are cool , so dont take any of my fustrations toward you bud ! but i do want you to reply to this if you will kind sir :-)
Dez,

My previous post said it all. I have only two things to add, 1.) What we do, say and write represents us. 2.) The next time we're at Banks, you're more than welcome to come drink with Daryl, Mark and I again in the RV.

Steve

Steve my dad never fished for bass before 1998 or 1999 which was the first year we fished a tournament. So I don't think my dad would know him, but maybe due to some other circumstance.

The short and sweet about Ricky Bobby (very nice Maderos). I fished with him one day as a nonboater in the Tri Cities FLW. I'm a pretty laid back guy, but I nearly tossed his ass out of the boat. (The bad thing is is he is a retired wrestling coach and he probably would have whipped me which would have been embarrasing.)

When I drew his name for my day two boater I went up and introduced myself. He didn't even make eye contact with me and pointed over to the launch and said be there at five. He shined me on so bad that Mike Reynolds my day one pro threw a fit and told me to be prepared for a long day and that was just how draws went. Ricky was in a good mood at the beginning of the fishing day and then spent most of the day scaring the shit out of me with his 19' with a 250 on it. That little boat scoots. I weigh 250 pounds and my ass was rarely in contact with the seat. That dude would just roar in on other people and then stare at them like they were the ones at fault. I'll tell you if you parked your boat in a swimming pool he would leave good fish to come see what you had going.

I could spend all day typing up the escapades of that outing and I guarantee you guys would be crying you would be laughing so hard.

That said, I don't think he is intentionally malicious, I just think he is lacking any social skills and has a very large ego. Apparently he did very well in tournaments down south, but I was not able to find his name anywhere online and believe me I looked.

It sounds like you had a good experience Steve which is great. Perhaps you figured out how to massage the ego when others like myself should have.
Thanks Ron for pointing out that I have fished tournaments longer than you. That's just great... A good day just went to a really shitty one- thanks.

Mike,

Now that..... was funny!! But don't worry, I think what Ron wass subtly reminding (us,(me)) is that he's a rookie relatively speaking, (with 7 more years of tournament experience than I) but just wait for the whuppins when he's a journeyman.
