Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Several years ago while fishing a B.A.S.S. event in the Tri Cities I drew Ron Mace.  At that time he was running a Bullet boat and as we completed our run to the Snake I asked him "How fast were we going"?  I think he said in the low 90's.  I know Bass fishermen are proud of their boats and performance. I thought it would be interesting to hear what everyone is running, set up, and performance.

And with your lunch pail you are well over 450 :)
I agree with many of the comments on this topic that if your boat is set up right that you will get max speed and handling, with little to no chine walk. Some of it is the driver, the right prop, the engine height, the hull itself, etc.

My 06 21 I Class with 250 HPDI would do 73 empty on the west with two guys and just 70 with two guys and full tourney loads at Banks.

My new 21' 721 Phoenix with the 250 SHO Yamaha I have been told will easily hit 78-80 with two guys and tourney loads. In a couple of weeks we will find out if this is true.

Definately. I can't fish, so might as well learn to go fast...

LOL. People getting "hard" on wafish about boat speeds.
07' triton 20x 225 pro xs 76mph on gps full of tackle and 2 people varies east or west by 2 or three mph
mine is a 98 tr19 w/175efi merc 67.3gps that's at 5300 rpm and 20+psi. yea she's got a lot of chine but with my water pressure I think im gonna lift her an inch and see what happens.
Why would someone put a post on here with their name and picture attached along with how fast they were going on a lake that has a speed limit of 45 mph on weekends and 60 mph during the week for EVERYONE to see?
We as a group don't need this kind of publicity.

2001 TR21 Merc XB 250 10" Plate 26" Tempest & 25" Worked Trophy........Ran 81.3 when it was brand new on GPS at American Lake with very little gas, just me 300#, and no tackle. Runs 73-79 depending on load, lake & outside temperature. There are a lot more factors to speed than the average guy realizes. So many guys say their boats go 75, but I have yet to be passed by one. To run in the 80's, you typically only see Bullets, Strokers & Allisons. Don't see to many of these three around here.
2007 Nitro 911 cdc w/ Merc 225 optimax
Best speed ever 69.8 ... 1/4 tank of gas, by myself with very little tackle
Average tourney load speed 65mph.
Boat is big and heavy, and I carry way too much tackle.

Another Classic!

Tempest 25 prop, full tourney load and full fuel tank, no passenger, I have hit 65MPH on Lake Sammamish in January.

Guessing smoother water and cold, dense air on Sammamish helped.

However, at 65MPH GPS, the ride was a bit scary... chine walk, constant trim, steering, and smooth touch on the hotfoot.

I'm still learning to drive, so take that into consideration.

One question I have is...

Is there a 21 foot bass boat out there that will carry a full tournament load, full fuel tank, with fishing partner, and comfortably do 70 MPH in slightly choppy water? Does such a boat exist, and what is it?

I hit a 4 foot wake doing about 55 GPS on Lake Wa last year, and after pulling the prop out of water, and then slamming back down at a complete stop, I thought I had broken something in my body... very scary experience.

I've heard talk of full tournament loads in Skeeters and Rangers doing 70 MPH plus in chop without so much as a twitch, even hands off steering wheel.

Are these stories true, or just wishful thinking?

Thanks for any input!
Hey Jon, I know of one boat in this state that will bust 100mph an Allison. The owner says he's had it to 103mph, But I have yet to drive it and when I do I want alot of room.
I have something like a '66 seasswirl, with a 15 hp merc on the back. I put a new prop on it this year and it does about 17.
2010 tracker pro 16. not very fast but it puts me on fish.
