I get 22 mpg all day long with no trailer. 18 MPG Pulling boat at 70 mph+
Over 500hp and 1000 ft lbs torque with 18-22 mpg!
Manual trans gets you a couple of mpg.
Its a fun truck. You can blow the doors off the Rice burners and pull you boat! It doesn't get any better than that. All you gotta do is help em breath and they will get the milage.
The only thing I worry about is pulling the damn hitch off the frame. I have a little bit of a lead foot : )
Don't worry though. They have "FIXED" healthcare, maybe they'll work on this now.
C-RIDE said:Mark is 100% right about the good ole 5.9L. The new 6.7L diesel is a pile of crap. Take it from me guys, if you buy a 6.7L you are gonna be pissed off. It will break down and gets very poor milage. 12 mpg without a boat in tow. I work for Dodge and have for 9 years as a service mgr/advisor. I almost never have to do repairs to the 5.9L Cummins. Only when Dumb asses like myself pump them up to 500 hp, then they break....
It sucks having all the guys with 6.7L Cummins chewing my ass all the time when they have to bring em in with issues all the time. Most of them had been spoiled by the reliability of the 5.9L. The problem is that Ford, Chevy and Dodge are all having the same issues. Chevy least of all. It is all related to the EPA requiring emission components on the Diesel engines. They are not designed to have this stuff on them, so they clog up. It is going to be very hard for them to figure out how to make that much power and make them run clean. They did the same thing with the cars in the early 70's. EPA said that we need cars that get good mpg and low smog. So you got all those ugly, weak engines that didn't last in the 70's-80's. It has taken this long to get the engineers to make an engine that gets (ok) mileage and lots of power. I think we are going to go through the same thing on the Diesels...

No modifications to the engine.
20mpg hwy not towing a boat doing 70mph.
16mph towing a 2007 Nitro 911 cdc. Big heavy boat.
The 5.9 cummins is bullet proof, wish they would have left it alone.
