1996 ex forest service cherokee. 89 stratos. let me know if anyone wants to trade their cummings pulling a z21 or something. LOL
I currently run a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD Classic with the Duramax / Allision package. Its pretty much stock with the exception of a Diablo Predator programmer. Dyno says 462HP and 960ft lbs tourque. Not towing I average 22-23mpg @ 70mph turning a little less than 2 grand. Towing it gets about 18-19 mpg at the same speeds never needs to come out of 6th gear going over any of the passes.
I have seen you drive and i dont think you should ever go faster than 35 mph

I just finished replacing my 3rd Turbo on my 2004 6.0L F-250 w/ only 65k miles! The first was still under warranty, not so much for the last two, definitely wouldn't own another 6.0L that's for sure!!!

Fords diesels have sucked ever since they went away from the 7.3, and even those weren't bulletproof. I work for Ford and have been avoiding diesel certs, but I am doing more and more of them now. 6.0's are complete turds, would never own one. Lets see how good the 6.7 that Ford actually builds does.
My ride:
1991 Chevy Van 20
5 ? inch black and white tv
New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, egr valve LOL
Spintech Muffler 3 in, high flow cat
Gets 9-11 mpg towing, never really went anywhere unloaded to check regular mileage.
Can sleep/bone in the back comfortably is its major advantage.
Oh my, 2004 was a BAD year if you haven't figured it out yet. Head Gaskets are next, better get rid of it now.

Yeah there are 2. A guy and his wife have'em one runs 11's and the other runs 12's. The Blue one runs 12's and i think the fast one is white or silver don't really remember. All i know for sure is the smoke that billows out of that thing when they are at the line boost braking. The truck is pretty much gone from site by the time the light turns green and the truck is off like a bat out of hell.

Chris- I have street tires but i do get decent enough traction. I would say your money is in the right place. His truck also weighs about as much as a house. Turbo D's are nasty when you mod them but the weight of them hurts'em once they are already rollin

I saw some turbo deisels in the 11's at the track this year....4x4's for that matter. Was pretty amazed by the power out of those, along with the plumes of black smoke when they are torque mosters like those were.

I think we need a tuner race showdown without the boats. C-rides torque monster vs RFatt's Lightning. My money is on the Lightning if it has the correct tires in the back :)
ha ha ha ha ha ha. You mean Chris is lay piping??? ha ha ha ha

When Chris's van is rockin, don't bother knockin....... he's not looking for gear!
I have the dreaded 6.0 Power Stroke in a 2004 F-250 Super Duty Short Bed and yes have had the head gasket and EGR problems...have a Craigslist POS $700.00 camper that works out awesome with the ice block fridge and overcab storage!! Pulls the 18'6" ProCraft single axle trailer with no problem just hope I can get the payments down to trade out before the next disaster!!

Chris your right on the money. We loved the 7.3 for hauling our pipe trailers but the new 6's are dogs and don't hold up. We get about half the life out of motors as we used to and theres nothing like pulling across a highway with a heavy trailer and having the truck decide to hesitate for five or ten seconds before it decides to wake up:(

2003 and 2004 were bad years. We have finally gotten rid of all of ours but one and it is a POS. The turbo is definitely an issue and there are a lot of guys out there with bad ones that don't even realize it.

We got about 12 mpg with the 7.3 and get about 9.5 - 10 mpg with the 6 while towing the pipe trailers. They are typically loaded to the hilt and heavy but I don't get any better mileage with the 6 towing my Triton. I was thinking of changing to Dodge but after reading this it sounds like all truck lines are going to have the same performance and maintenance issues. I had the same truck and year as Ron and that thing was solid and finally retired at over 400,000 hard miles. I think the only thing we ever did was the transmission and glow plugs (which we usually do the glow plugs annualy no matter what) but the transmission was pretty much user error/misuse.

He's right about the weight... 7800 lbs . But I can launch in 4x4 high : ). Mine is not set up for racing though. I have a 6 speed manual trans. Hard to shift fast enough in the lower gears. I know my 60mph-120mph time is prob faster than my 0-60 time. It puts you back in the seat pretty damn hard in 4th-6th gears. The best part about the whole truck is the black smoke! It works great when you get behind one of those bicycle riders and he doesnt get out of your way or the occasional bus stop full of people. (smoke screen)! It's frickin hilarious...

Been in this truck many times and to this day the best tow rig I have ever seen.

I get 22 mpg all day long with no trailer. 18 MPG Pulling boat at 70 mph+
Over 500hp and 1000 ft lbs torque with 18-22 mpg!
Manual trans gets you a couple of mpg.
Its a fun truck. You can blow the doors off the Rice burners and pull you boat! It doesn't get any better than that. All you gotta do is help em breath and they will get the milage.
The only thing I worry about is pulling the damn hitch off the frame. I have a little bit of a lead foot : )
2002 Ford F250 Super cab Short bed
5.4 L Triton V8 (GAS, sucks)
35 BFGs (did not help)
Had exhaust done and that really help.
I have had to fix my right side Exhaust Man. 2 times now but other then that not a problem with it
MPG 15-17 w/o Boat
MPG 12-13 w Boat

Small Gas Tank (like 25 Gal) and super stiff ride..Had suspension done to help it out. But does drive very nice
