OK, so I think it would be interesting to put together some information on what the prey of bass is doing at different times of the year.
Crawdads: What depths do they live at? How do they change colors durring the year? When do they spawn? When are they vulnerable?
Perch: What are there depth paters during the year? When and where do they spawn and when are they a primary food source?
Bluegill/Sunfish: dito...
Othes: Trout, sculpin, insects, ect...
Let this be a thread that we can share some info on what the food is doing to better understand what the bass are doing in relation to them. Feel free to post what you know and lets keep the nonsence to a minimum on this please.

A couple additional notes on crayfish habitat and location.
Crayfish require shelter, which includes thick vegetation, brush, logs, man made objects and rock as PJ mentioned. Also, while crayfish will be on the bottom the majority of the time, they will also climb vertical structure like dolphin pilings, cling to aquatic vegetation in all parts of the water column and even hang out in densely matted surface vegetation.
Bass eat whatever they can fit in there mouth. That is what bass food is. I think the bass put themselves into a postition to take advantage of the easiest and most abundance of forage. Just because a fish was dining on crawdads doesn't mean they won's eat a minnow when it swims buy. I have caught tons of fish that are spitting up both. Bass food is bass food

Does anyone have any feed back using perch pattern on Lake Washington? I've tried jerkbaits with the perch patterns haven't had too much luck, I have more luck using silver with a blue back. Being from Michigan, the perch pattern is a killer for smallies, I'm not quite sure what's up here.
Perch patterns work great in Lake Washington, you just have to throw them in the right spots, just like any other lures. I catch alot of fish on perch jerkbaits but mostly cranks.

I'll keep on trying! Thanks for the feed back!
