Anyone have any good local leads on someone creating a reproduction of my fathers 7lb smallie?

I caught a 6 pound smallie at Lake WA a few years ago and had a replica made.  I did a lot of research and used Anglers Art Taxidermy in Wisconsin.  It seems that a lot of the good "artists" buy molds from the same company and the difference is in the paint, fins and eyes that are used.  I paid extra for a high quality mold/fins and it turned out great.  That might be a good starting point.

Didn't you mount that cougar you got in packwood last year?

This guy on one of the swimbait sites posted some pics of his work and it impressed the hell out of me.  I think you have to be signed up to the forum to see the posts, but I'd give him an email and ask him to send the pics he posted on Swimbait Underground.  He matched one fish almost exactly, down to it's messed up tail.

That was two years ago, and the cougar tried to mount me!

I have my PB smallie ( 6-13) replica on the wall, and I haven't seen one done better.  I used Wildlife Creations in Missouri.  They are affiliated with Bass Pro.

I have a 10 lb LM from a place outside of Lake Fork Texas....and it is a good one, but not worth what they charged.  Wildlife creations was reasonable and they did a great job of matching the pain to my photo.

Thanks for the input everyone....

Most reproductions I've seen do a poor job on the belly, making it all or mostly white instead of a mottled/grey look.  Campbell's work is the best I've seen at getting little things like the underside of a smallmouth right.

Call Dave Campbell @ 253-847-6011.  He does amazing work.  Multiple time World Champion Fish Artist.  His shop is in Puyallup.  Best work I've ever seen.  Spendy but worth every penny.  He has a custom mold he made for a 7lb+ smallmouth.
