Thinking about ordering a pair of solar bats, but thought i would throw it out to you guys on what you think of them, and if there are better brands for the money. Usually use the cheap off brand polorized and can see pretty good, but just want a quality pair.

Troy hows it going. I don't own a pair of solar bats but i do have a pair of oakleys witch are the deep blue polarized and they work great in the sun. But i wanted a cloudy day rainy pair and the lens interlock but there like 90 bucks just for the lens so i found a pair of under armours at cabelas on sale eariler this year and i'm very impressed with these fo the money i couldn't go wrong there amber lens that illumnate green and britten up dark days i use the for an all around and my oakleys get used alot less. They were 70.00 on sale and around 119.00 new. Try a pair on they fit really good too. good luck sunglass hunting they for sure make a difference.
I bet I am the only one here that uses them but I use Ocean Waves. They have super high quality glass lenses and I look unbelievably good in them.
You have probably never heard of them...but I use Old Harbor Outfitters Sunglasses.

They won the ICAST award for sunglasses with their new polarization process, lenses, etc. They are really sweet, I switched from Costa's to these and I won't go back.

WOW! You should try taking try looking at something reflective while you are wearing those and tell us if you still feel the same way.

I wear Smith's and always have. They have several different price ranges but if you buy a pair that actually have glass lenses you will end up buying fewer pairs over time because glass doesn't scratch up as bad as the other stuff. I just bought a pair of the hideouts and I am really happy. My only complaint is that Smith doesn't have the Moss gradiant lens like Solar Bat.
Josh I always wore smith glasses as well and I liked them especially the photocromic lenses,(spelling?Delay?) but I have switched over to the solar bats and love them, they are light and fit my face perfectly, I wear the cool eyes with yellow lenses in any sight fishing situations and the mossback every other time.

Troy - I gave up the cheapos last year and got a pair of Oakley Gascans and love them. Been using Oakley ski goggles for years, but just got into the glasses. They have a large enough profile to block out a lot of light and they are sweet looking. Were not as expensive as I thought, but did hit the pocket book. I do believe glasses aren't something to buy based on advice. Get some brands in mind and try a lot on especially if you are going to spend more than $100. One thing that is obvious, but I have overlooked before, Always try sunglasses on with a hat because we all fish in hats or visors frequently and glasses feel very different when worn with or without a hat. To me the quality of polarization is important, but not as much as comfort! With the amount of hours bass fisherman wear sunglasses they better feel good and probably look half decent as well. An expert would know more about the different lense colors and what light conditions they favor. I just use classic amber lenses.

Good Luck

Troy, visit a website called www.steepandcheap.com. They have been selling Costa Del Mars for $30 - $80! The site is like a clearance for backcountry.com. All of the products are legit, customer service is great, and shipping is cheap. The only catch is that they only run products for 30 minutes, then change to another product. It seems that between 7 and 9pm they are have glasses on sale. Oakleys, Costas, Smiths (I bought these)... just give it a check.
Mossback was the word I was looking for. I borrowed my partners last year and that was one of the coolest color of lenses I have ever worn. In the end my own vanity forced me into buying another pair of Smith's. They look better on me and I am convinced the fish care how I look.

Solar Bats all the way. They are worth the money and you know I believe it because I lost two pair last year and ran another pair over with my orchard mower but I still won't buy any other brand.

I have the mossyback and love them. My partner bought the gradient lense and they are pretty sweet also.
What frames do you guys like, and how can you try on the Solar Bats. I've been trying to contact Gary Stiles, the local dealer, but haven't had sucess.

Gary is a member on this site and he and Lisa are usually super good at getting back to people. He has probably been very busy. They also usually have a display at the NW Bass tournaments with several different frame types. I think that is your best bet for trying different ones.
