Hi everyone,
I have been looking for a flipping stick or at least a more stout pitching rod. Long story short, my grandpa knows the owners of a tackle shop in Oregon real well and I have a deal going where I can get a brand new Dobyns 736C for $120 (sells for $240)! It seems like it might be slightly short (7'3") for flipping but that is a tough price to pass up. Has anyone on this site ever used this rod before? What did you think of it? Thanks!
Here are the specs:

Dad’s Fishing Derby (as he calls it)
I took my dad fishing for salmon this past Friday. He didn’t want to go fishing initially but much to my pleasure and surprise, he changed his mind.
We found a section of the Green River in Auburn, which I missed during my initial scouting trip not too long ago. I have never fished this section of the Green River either, but its traits were perfect for us. It was a flat, clear area that was convenient to fish from the…

I am taking an english/positive psychology course (not my choice...)at WSU and have to do a research paper. If you guys could fill out this survey ASAP, it would be a huge help. It should only take about 10 minutes and be fairly simple. If there are any questions or concerns, please pm me. It is for anglers of all levels, etc.

Thanks,
Zack

Well... a Top 10 finally!!! I felt after falling from 30th in the AOY ranking to 35th at the Delta that I needed a Top 10 finish to make the FLW CUP... I did finish in the Top 10 but in 10th... so wasn't quit good enough and I finished 22nd overall missing the Cup by 2 spots! Still I feel good about the year but I look back at all four tourney’s and the missed limits all add up in some fashion to a 4-5 lb difference in 22nd and being a 20th place FLW CUP QUALIFIER! It’ll be…

Another Trip to Lake Union Tuesday, 10-28-09
I had the fortune of getting out of work a bit early today. Despite my suspicions that the passing period of cold and rainy weather would likely turn the fish off and lower my chances of success fishing from the shore, I decided to go bass fishing anyway. Because this was not a planned trip, I only had two trunk rods and a motley but limited selection of lures.
Poor weather conditions + Limited lure selection = Slim…

I had a bad experince at Big Salmon Fishing Resort, Neah Bay in early July, 2009. I planned on fishing for five days. I bought gas twice at marina. First day no problem. After second purchase of gas I went out to fish and had problems with my engine. Boat quit running about 3 miles out. I am a retired auto technician and suspected water in the fuel. I called this to the manager's attention at Big Salmon and she said she would have her gas checked. She has not done this, and refuses to send me…

Last year I fished the FLW Delta tourney and finished 15th after being in the top-10 on the second day. I drew one of the best on day 3 "Bobby Barrack". I had been fishing a similiar bait to the pro for the 1st 2 days and not catching a limit but catching quality fish... and long story short I caught one fish behind the man... learning experince to say the least. I should have realized he would catch all the quality fish and I should change my strategy to catch some smaller pattern…

IB’s Joker Bait Tuesday 09-15-09
One of my all-time childhood favorite superheroes is Batman, and so I thought I’d make a crankbait with Batman colors. However, I realized that Batman’s colors were a bit dull. I figured his archenemy’s colors (green hair, purple attire, red lips and black eyes, etc.) might make for an interesting choice.
I had a little assistance from the Bush and Obama jokers.…
