Last weekend I fished an open tournament on my home lake. I had never fished that particular tournament before and was very excited for the event. The fishing had been really tough for a couple of weeks but in my last day of practice I found a stretch of water that had 6 or 7 Largemouth that were over 5 pounds and several 3's and 4's. This little stretch was only about 150-200 yards long and fairly obscure. Needless to say I was very excited for Saturday morning and the possibility of winning…

This sign was the brain child of CMA board member Scott Hughes a couple years ago and is posted at all musky lakes' boat launches and resorts etc.
CMA putting it's best foot forward for the protection of the fishery.

I was throwing around the idea that we should have a wa fish member open tournament / bbq, anyone know of a good time or place we could kick off such an event? From what i can see you are all pretty cool guys and gals and I think if we could just kick it sometime with some chicken and ribs maybe some beverages, it could be a good time.

A buddy is in need of a new trolling motor and needs some advice. He is running a 2000 Ranger 19.5 foot boat with a 200hp Yamaha and is concerned with slowing the boat down with added battery weight (He should have bought a Triton).
Choices: 1st choice is to go with an 80lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor (which we believe to be the strongest 24 volt system available) or 2nd choice, a 101lb thrust 36 volt trolling motor.
Which way would you go?

I dont know if any of you have run into the disgruntled waterfront lake owner who claim that they own the dock and water beneath the dock out in front of their residence. I have as of late had some pretty angry homeowners tell that they own the water, around and under their dock and fishing it is prohibited. This happened to me on more then one occasion with more then one homeowner up on summit lake in olympia. I was dumbfounded, knowing quite well that you cant own the water, but the…

I will be doing a Ranger boat demo day at Lake Washington’s Gene Coulon Park in Renton on Saturday, August 15th from 7:00AM to ? with my new Ranger Boat; the Z520 with an Evinrude E-TEC 250HO. One of Rangers premier tournament boats! This boat is Rangers fastest boat currently on their line up and has an extremely smooth ride, lots of storage, very stable fishing platform and a huge front deck. It has received rave reviews and is considered one of the best tournament packages out…

Its Thursday- just two more days until were on Lake Oroville for the 3rd tournament of the season, and already it’s the ONLY thing on my mind… The thought is tearing through my mind faster than a 250 horse Merc at take-off, and just imagining the feeling of a rod in my hand is enough to get my heart pumping. Enthusiasm and excitement are surely in no short supply, and for a bunch of wide-eyed college kids, this is what dreams are made of.
Looking at barely half the drive of our Lake…

2600 miles, 150 gallons of gas, and 8 hours of fishing to make it all worth it…this is the WSU bass team. We’ve got 30-something rods innovatively packed in a massive concrete forming tube, cradled between the seats of our 7-person rental van fittingly named “The Coug-Cruiser”. Needless to say… ITS ON. Our crew consists of Zack, Kipp, Huy, James, myself (Chris), and Sarah (to make sure she keeps the guys from getting out of hand), and one heck of a dad who has put in some…

A couple of months ago I was fishing from the shore and happened upon a crankbait. A Mann's 15+ to be exact, with no paint, covered in dirt, and rusted of hooks. I picked it up and said, hell, I should repaint this. So I did.
Too bad I didn't make sure the bait worked first, cuz it don't. After a lot of reworking of the bill, its close, but not there yet. I knew I could do better though, so I ordered some blanks, snagged some old baits, and…

I finally got around to completing it. This is the same one that caught a largemouth bass while I was field-testing it when it was still unpainted.
Before
This time, I used a super cheap airbrush that I bought a long time ago and forgot about until I did a little spring-cleaning in the garage. The dark green strip was done by dabs with a hand brush.
After
This is what I…

I'm going to share an experience with you guys and I know what most of you think. I wanna here some feedback from you all and just tell me if I'm out of line or nuts!
Most of you know that I fished the Memorial tournament last week. Fun as hell by the way. This area is on the Columbia River and the area I fish is by the mouth of the Okanogan river. As I was traveling up the Okanogan river I couldn't help but notice a giant fishing boat . One that you would see in an area like Puget sound…
